IDEA

Integrated Design for Automation of Anaesthesia

ACUREX field

The project IDEA aims at the development of an Autonomous Integrated System for the Automation of Anaesthesia. This will provide a computational platform for clinical testing, both in animal and human patients, that will form a significant step towards reliable automation of anaesthesia, both from the technological and scientific standpoints

The project started July 10th, 2007, and lasts 36 months.

The main expected scientific contributions derives from the development of an integrated unit for automatic anaesthesia incorporating novel nonlinear and adaptive control reliable algorithms suitable for clinical environment.

Due to the ethical restrictions inherent to the experimentation on human patients, the test of the final system will be mainly performed on animals subject to anaesthesia, although testing on human patients will also be considered
